Loved everything about the hotel from it's location, the ability to park on site and the 2 restaurants. The decor is truly outstanding throughout the entire hotel. The designer has captured the Winston Churchill feel with class and elegance in an understated tone that just hit's the mark. I really cannot express enough how impressed I was at the tastefully done decor. The whole place feels like an elegant old modern english gentlemen's club. The other thing that made our stay so enjoyable was Rachel who not only went out of her way to greet us and inform us about the area when we arrived, she helped us out of a car dilema by continuing to look for booster cables till she found some as we left our car lights on. We will most certainly recommend this little gem to others. Such a nice find that made our stay all the more memorable. Love the Pods in the garden too...great atmoshere for pizza and a beer!

The staff were great and the room was very clean. We also spent a few hours drinking cocktails in one of the hexdomes outside - which was a fabulous experience. Location overall was perfect! The downsides, our room was in the basement and the ceiling had a soil pipe running through it, so when someone flushed the toilet it was very noisy. The walls are rather thin (but I guess it’s Georgian and they didn’t do sound proofing) and you feel like you are part of someone’s conversation. I didn’t sleep that well because of it. Major gripe was the car park. Thankfully we found a space and had pre paid but it was difficult to manoeuvre in and out, it certainly looked like there were far too many cars for the number that had paid. Some cars were blocking others in, who then couldn’t leave!

We stayed at five hotels in England on this trip and this one is my favorite: very friendly and helpful front desk team; on-property parking (worth the fee given the crowded streets and public lots); only .5 walk to the city center; the dining area where we ate breakfast was adorable; 11 am check-out time; the room had unique, appealing decor; the room was dark, quiet and large enough for my husband, me and our two teens-loved the two twin beds as an option for them. Cherry on top - KitKat bars for each of us as a nod to the city history. We loved York. If we return, I’d stay here again.

The whole experience was great The hotel is really lovely Other reviews said their room was small - ours was small but there was ample room - however I did book the smallest room so definitely no complaints from us The room was lovely, as was the bathroom too The bar & restaurant were great too food was excellent For me personally the staff made the visit exceptional Every one of them was so friendly helpful & alwYs happy/ smiling So thank you Churchill hotel for making our stay wonderful I can’t wait to go back!!!

What a great treat, a last minute booking but a great choice. My welcome was first class, my room comfortable and well appointed. An old listed building, nice friendly bar and good choice of food. Breakfast was freshly cooked and table service. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
